AAOS 2018: Highlights from the event
It was another successful Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons meeting for the thousands of attendees that headed to New Orleans in March.
For Lowell, we enjoyed meeting with many of you at the booth and at events, and the opportunity to discuss your goals and needs for quality product development in the coming year.
Much of the focus of the meeting overall remained on the impressive and anticipated growth in total knee and hip replacement.
There are many estimates available, but most project well over a 100 percent increase in procedures in the coming decade. Efficiency and reimbursement will be critical factors in the success of new product options. The need for quality products and procedures to meet this demand will likely be a hot topic for the next several AAOS meetings.
Also at the show were some great sessions and academy news worth noting:
- AAOS Announces 2018 Public Service Campaign
- Well-deserved recognition for many: AAOS Humanitarian Award, AAOS Diversity Award, Lanier Award
- Planning is already underway for 2019 in Las Vegas, and we look forward to seeing you there!
